5 Reasons to Watch The Good Doctor

Read the top 5 reasons why you should watch The Good Doctor on ABC.

The Good Doctor is a new show on ABC that follows the life and world of Dr. Shaun Murphy, a resident at San Jose St. Bonaventure Hospital. Dr. Shaun Murphy also happens to be autistic as well as have savant syndrome. Already, we have seen some of the trial and tribulations Shaun has had to endure, and it has us hooked! Here are some of the many reasons why you should be watching!

Five Reasons to watch The Good Doctor

1. The Web it Weaves

Just like every good show, we hang in there to see how the characters’ lives entangle into each other. Of course we have a lot of love connections going on, within the hospital, that interfere with many decisions that have to be made. Real Grey’s-like. Then we see the lives of young Shaun and his brother and how their previous relationships guide life in the present. We like all of the juicy storylines and we think you will too!

2. Flashbacks

If the topic of the show was not enough to draw you in, let’s start with the flashbacks that are sprinkled perfectly throughout each episode. Each flashback gives you a hint as to what is going to occur in the present time, but also leaves you on the edge of your seat as you watch. Perfectly putting the cherry on top as you reach the end of the episode and everything comes full circle. It gives us #allthefeels.

3. It’s another “Doctor Show”

Yes, it is another doctor show. But, this show was created by the same man that created the Doctor show: House – David Shore. Something we loved about House was the strange outcomes and bizarre (and sometimes unconventional) ways he would heal and cure his patients. Pair this with a young doctor that has Savant Syndrome and there are so many more ways to be amazed. Within the 6 episodes, this is confirmed.

4. Brotherhood

One of the core aspects of this show that keeps us hooked, is the bond that Shaun has with his brother, Steve. We only get to witness this bond in flashbacks, but it carries into the present and stays with Shaun as he takes on his residency.

5. Awareness

The last reason you should watch this show is for awareness. Freddie Highmore has even said in an interview that, “Shaun can never represent everyone with autism. It would be a silly and offensive thing to suggest that this one singular individual is going to be representative of a plethora of people who are also individuals and different…” With that being said, Shaun’s character sheds light on the subject, fosters understanding and raises awareness for all people with Autism.

Watch The Good Doctor, Mondays at 10 EST on ABC and see if it lives up to the hype. If you’re already watching, let us know what you love about it!
