The 5SOS fandom have a reason to celebrate today. Luke Hemmings,  Calum Hood, Ashton Irwin, and Michael Clifford from the Australian band 5 Seconds of Summer will be touring with British boy band sensation One Direction on the North American part of the “Where We Are Tour.” So to prepare you here is everything you need to know about the Australian rockers and the much-awaited tour:

5 Seconds of Summer, or “5SOS” as they go by, are an Australian pop rock band from Sydney, formed in 2011. It started with members Luke Hemmings, Calum Hood, and Michael Clifford. They then added their drummer Ashton Irwin, and have been making music ever since. They became known from Luke’s YouTube channel Hemmo1996. The video that really made them popular was their cover of Justin Bieber and Chris Brown’s song “Next to You.”

The boys really gained a bigger following when they were the opening act of the 1D boys’ “Take Me Home” tour in February of 2013. 5SOS touring with 1D again in these big stadiums could really increase their popularity more than it did before.

Niall Horan of One Direction is very excited about 5SOS opening for them on their tour. He tweeted: “Ahhhhh yessssssss!! @5SOS are opening for us again! TMH was great fun! But dudes we’re playing f’in stadiums! Agggghhhhh !” Which then Louis Tomlinson added “Can’t wait!”

The 5SOS boys are stoked to be opening for One Direction. They stated “We are soooo excited to be supporting the 1D lads on their “Where We Are Tour” in the USA & Canada this year 🙂 The tour last year was a wicked experience and helped take our band to places we never even dreamed possible. Cannot wait to play our new music and rock out in stadiums across North America! It’s going to be EPIC. We will see you soon… Big love, 5SOS x”
