The legendary sound of the one and only Janis Joplin is headed to Broadway. Producers announced that the musical A Night With Janis Joplin will begin previews at the Lyceum Theatre on September 20th.
Mary Bridget Davis will portray the iconic singer.
The show is being written and directed by Randy Johnson. It features a live onstage band as well as a trio of back up dancers.
The highly anticipated show features Joplin classic hits such as “Piece of My Heart,” “Mercedes Benz,” “Me and Bobby McGee,” “Ball and Chain” and “Summertime.” The show is centered as an imagined Joplin concert.
The show has previously toured North America for the past two years. It has garnered rave reviews for Davies. This show will mark Davises Broadway debut.
Additional casting and members of the creative team will be announced in the future. Tickets will go on sale July 6th.
