ABC Gives Two Full Season Orders, A Cancellation, And An Extension In Tuesday Night Comedies v2

NULL

Staff Writer

ABC has given new Tuesday night comedies a vote of confidence by ordering a full season of both Trophy Wife and The Goldbergs. Naturally, this Tuesday spot is a hard one to succeed in; they were competing against CBS’ NCIS: LA and The Voice on NBC.

The Goldbergs managed to average 6 million viewers, which is a fair amount better the Trophy Wife’s 4.8 million. However, ABC is aware of the clear potential seeing as both of the aforementioned shows have been among their best reviewed comedies. In fact, the majority of the comments on Entertainment Weekly were fairly positive towards these comedies.

Unfortunately, James Caan’s Sitcom Back in the Game has been cancelled, which did average 7.2 million viewers, yet lacked the potential of the other shows.

Whilst Rebel Wilson’s Super Fun Night didn’t get a guaranteed full season, ABC has ordered four more episodes of the Warner Brothers TV comedy. Wilson’s show did get an average of 7.3 million viewers, which trumps ABC Studios’ Trophy Wife, but there is still time to get a full season order.
