Disney Theatrical Productions has announced that Broadway’s version of Aladdin will launch a North American Tour in 2017. The the tour will start in Chicago at the Cadilac Palace Theater on April 11, 2017 for a 12-week engagement, which will end on July 2nd.

Based on the 1992 Disney animated feature by the same name, Aladdin tells the story of street-rat named Aladdin and the adventures he goes through to win the heart of Princess Jasmine.

The Broadway show opened at the New Amsterdam Theater on March 20, 2014.  Since opening the musical has taken the Disney lovers by storm. The cast currently stars Adam Jacobs as Aladdin, Courtney Reed as Jasmine, Jonathan Freeman as Jafar (fun fact: he voiced the character in the film) and Tony Award Winner James Monroe Iglehart as the ever-lovable Genie.

The production features a score by the ever talented, Alan Menken, Howard Ashmen and Tim Rice and includes some favorite songs such as “Friend Like Me” and Academy Award-winning song “A Whole New World.”

The show is directed and choreographed by Tony Award Winner Casey Nicholaw (The Book Of Mormon, Something Rotten!). The Creative team includes: Bob Crowley (Scenic Design), Gregg Barnes (Costumes), Natasha Katz (Lighting), Michael Kosarin (Music Supervisor), Danny Troob (Orchestrator), and Glenn Kelly (Dance/Music Arranger).

No further dates have been released, but a schedule for more North American cities will start coming out in the upcoming months.
