Get your cauldrons and candles ready American Horror Story reveals its 3rd subtitle, Coven. Murphy revealed the subtitle tidbit at the AHS PaleyFest this past Friday and couldn’t be more excited “It’s a really cool story we’ve been talking about for a couple of years. So we’re going to do that.” This year the story will span across multiple locations, one of which being New Orleans.
We can also tell you that the show will focus on interactions between Kathy Bates’ character and Jessica Lang’s. As far as the characters are concerned we don’t know much. I can say this Murphy pitched Bates, and I quote, “this cuckoo for cocoa puffs character,” and Bates called back after an hour of receiving a script to accept. Bates only had this to say regarding her role “I don’t know [what she’ll be like] ‘til I’ve gotten in and walked around in her shoes, but I’m awfully excited.” I love Kathy Bates, but you know what I love more? A crazy Kathy Bates.
Rest assured like seasons past we will have one iconic villain who will terrorize and make the hairs on your neck stand up! However, we don’t know what form this villain will be taking but knowing Murphy and crew it will be something deranged and terrifying for sure. Staying in theme with the subtitle, season 3’s main theme will deal with girl power. With Bates and Lang heading up the cast I’m sure it will be a powerful combination for sure!
