In some genius casting, Amy Adams has signed on to play Janis Joplin in an upcoming biopic.

The rumors of Adams playing the iconic rocker have been floating around for a while now, but now that the film, entitled Get It While You Can, has found a director, it looks like it will be moving forward very soon.

Jean-Marc Vallee has signed on to direct the film, and if you don’t know his name, you will very soon – he has become very highly in demand, having directed Matthew McConaughey and Jared Leto to Academy Award wins this year in Dallas Buyers Club, and later on this year, Wild will be released, which is almost certain to garner quite a few awards itself, including for leading actress Reese Witherspoon.

There is no doubt that the combination of the brilliantly talented Adams and the master craftsman Jean-Marc Vallee will yield a great film, and hopefully will do the enigmatic figure of Joplin the justice she deserves

Adams can be seen in Tim Burton’s Big Eyes on the 25th of December, and Wild (starring Reese Witherspoon and Laura Dern) will be released on December 8th.
