Andy Serkis has played countless unforgettable roles in Hollywood, but you may not even realize it because so many of them use motion capture and his face is nowhere to be seen. As huge fans of Mr. Serkis, we would like to share which performances we think are, not only the best, but our favorites. So, enjoy our listicle and prepare to be surprised by the many times you’ve seen him in action.
Gollum in Lord of the Rings - Andy Serkis did an extraordinary job bringing this creepy little creature to life for this movie trilogy. He captured the true spirit of Gollum in the books in bringing him to life and placing this role high on our list. It’s too amazing to skip.
Caesar in the new Planet of the Apes films - Another look at Serkis as a non human character as he brings an ape to the movie world in his uniquely wonderful way. Serkis’ work in the Planet of the Apes films causes the audience to sympathize with Caesar even more then they already might have.
Richard Kneeland in 13 Going On 30 - This role may not be as well known as some of his other movies, but Serkis as Jennifer Garner’s lovable boss is a highlight for us. Watching him do the ‘Thriller’ dance will forever be a movie moment favorite.
Ian Dury in Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll - Serkis’ role here is one we didn’t know about until we saw it on his filmography, but it’s an outstanding performance. He plays a punk rock star who has battled polio from a young age.
Ulysses Klaue in Avengers: Age of Ultron & Black Panther - Serkis is amazing in the role of the villain in these two films. He was so great that we would like him to pop up and cause trouble in all future MCU films, and we have to admit he is very good looking as Klaue.
