‘Apocalypse’ Will Be Jennifer Lawrence’s Last Film In The X-Men Franchise

Jennifer Lawrence will be ending her role as Mystique in the X-Men franchise.

This is something she confirmed when speaking to MTV at the red carpet premier of her latest film Serena. When asked if X-Men: Apocalypse might be the last one in the franchise , Lawrence responded with, “It is my last one, actually”, adding no further details.

Now isn’t that sad? Jennifer Lawrence has played the shape shifting mutant in two films so far, with Apocalypse being the third. Her turn as Mystique has been one of the highlights of the franchise , and X-Men: First Class was her first major studio role, where she also met her now ex-boyfriend Nicholas Hoult, who portrayed Beast.

But with her career reaching new heights, and her other major franchise Hunger Games coming to a close, it just seemed natural for the young actress to challenge herself with newer roles in different films.

Catch her in her final turn as Mystique when X-Men: Apocalypse hits theaters on May 27, 2016.
