Last night’s Awkward was a big episode.

Everyone was getting their college acceptance letters, but Jenna was not accepted, unlike everyone else she knows. So, as per her usual actions, she starts freaking out and slightly over reacting.

She doesn’t tell anyone about her rejection until she flips out on her parents, Tamara as well as Owen, the boy she made out with at the New Year’s Eve party.

One of the writers Jenna admires most, who graduated from SCU (the college Jenna was rejected from) and Jenna’s high school, was present when Jenna had her moment. The writer came to find her later, telling her that she’s going to be fine because, as a writer, rejection fuels her stories and that writing is the only way to make sense of the world.

After Jenna’s talk with the writer, she realizes that not getting accepted into SCU is really not that big of a deal. She comes to realize the reason for her rejection (the rocky junior year, no extracurricular activities) and then also comes to the conclusion that people deserve reasons for rejection, at which point, she goes to Owen’s house.

And they kiss. THEY KISS. She’s kissing a sophomore and she’s a senior! I don’t know about your high school, but that would have been weird in mine!

All while Jenna is having her minor meltdown, Matty is trying to get a girl to even talk to him, and he is unable which leaves him thinking that he doesn’t have his swag anymore.
