Tony and Grammy Award winning actor-singer Ben Platt is set to star in a new musical television series by Glee creators Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuck and Ian Brennan! ...and it gets better, Academy Award winners, Barbra Streisand and Gwyneth Paltrow are said to be in negotiations to co-star.

The hour long comedy series currently titled, The Politican, is reported by Deadline to have recieved a two season order from streaming giant Netflix, so be prepared to binge watch. The show will center on Ben Platt's character Payton, a wealthy Santa Barbara, California resident, and the show's titular politican. Each season will center on a single political campaign that the character is involved in.

If negotiations are succesful for Streisand and Paltrow, they will also be taking on major roles behind the scenes. Both are eyeing to be producers, with Streisand expected to direct an episode or two. This may be the first major television series role for both actresses, although Paltrow did guest star in a few episodes of Glee.

Ben Platt first shot to fame as a member of the cast of Pitch Perfect 1 and 2, he would later go on to originate the role of Evan Hansen in the hit Broadway Musical Dear Evan Hansen for which he won the the Tony Award for best actor in a musical on 2017. This year, together with the team and cast of the show he also won the Grammy for best theatrical album.

Barbra Streisand, meanwhile, is a Hollywood legend who has won multiple Grammys, Golden Globes and Two Academy awards. Gwyneth Paltrow, in addition to her Academy Award, is aslo a BAFTA and Golden Globe winner, she also recieved an Emmy for her guest role in Glee.

Platt himself seems to be awed by the caliber of his potential co-stars, posting a snap of the Deadline article to his Instagram he wrote. "How this is an actual article about me starring in and co-producing a @mrrpmurphy show alongside @barbrastreisand and @gwynethpaltrow and not a photoshop from my fantasies, I will never know."
