Eagerly waiting for Her Royal Beyness to release another Bey-banger from her smash album, BEYONCE? Well fear not, peasants, for “Pretty Hurts” has been sent to MTV in a package of new videos. While nothing has been confirmed, it’s safe to say the Queen of the Beyhive is looking to balance out the raunch of “Partition” and “Drunk in Love” with her anthemic Sia-penned ballad. Though Mrs. Carter is credited with co-writing and co-producing the song, Sia had originally offered it to Katy Perry. Stories revolve around Perry “missing the email in her Junk Folder,” and the song being passed to Rihanna’s Navy. Apparently they missed the memo about paying a fee for sitting on a song for ANOTHER 8 months.
What-ifs aside, Katy and RiRi would not have suited the song, IMO. Perry would have gotten too much shade for not being pretty enough, and Rihanna would have too many jokes about a certain “hurtful” scene from her past. (Too soon? NEVER!) Beyonce probably added a few relevant references to her “struggles” as a goddess on Earth and called it a Tuesday.
