Britney Spears has been teasing us with the promise of a “big surprise” that she planned to unveil during her appearance on Good Morning America Tuesday morning.

Well, she wasn’t lying. And she isn’t much for subtlety, either. Spears defined “making an entrance” when she landed in the Las Vegas desert via helicopter. Awaiting her arrival were 1,300 fans that had been delivered via twenty-eight busses into no man’s land so that they could witness the announcement up-close-and-personal.

The highly built-up announcement was that Britney had recently signed a two-year deal where she will be the headlining act at Las Vegas’ Planet Hollywood. The songstress will perform fifty shows a year. Tickets sales opened up as of 10 a.m. Tuesday, September 17. Well. We already kind of knew that. Is that what all this fanfare is for? Nope.

The main announcement was that Spears’ newest album will drop on December 3rd.

In the interview, Spears also gave her thoughts on the controversy surrounding Miley Cyrus and her infamous VMA performance: “I think anytime you’re doing a performance that is that memorable, you’re going to have criticism,” Spears said. “I think she’s doing her thing. She’s being herself — so I give props to her.”

She also revealed during this interview that her first kiss was with none other than fellow Mickey Mouse Clubber and *N SYNC member, Justin Timberlake, when they were thirteen years old. Oh to be young and in love.

Will you be heading to the desert to catch Brit on the Vegas stage?
