Buffalo Bills kicker Dan Carpenter was not happy last night (Jan. 3). At all. After missing a field goal, the kicker returned to the sidelines during Sunday’s game against the New York Jets.
Anger got the best of him; so much so that he ripped off his helmet. He spiked it to the ground, and it bounced right back up and hit him straight in the face thanks to his force.
Ouch, am I right? Here’s a vine of the incident.
Thankfully, it just really stung and probably hurt. He avoided injury, and his nose didn’t appear to bleed. He later returned to the game and made some kicks, which I’m sure comforted him, more so due to the fact that they came away with a 22-17 win over the Jets.
The Bills are 8-8 on the season, and they were thankful to get away with a win over the 10-6 Jets. The Jets have been somewhat of an underdog story this season, putting up impressive numbers, especially thanks to the magic of quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick. In fact, the Jets had a shot at clinching a playoff berth last night, but they unfortunately fell to the Bills, missing the mark and ending their season.
Oh, well, at least
they didn’t throw their helmets back into their own faces.
The Bills will not be appearing in the playoffs this season, either, but they ended the season on a positive note.
If you’re looking for an underdog story, the Washington Redskins managed to make the playoffs. Or perhaps you want to follow the amazing story of the Carolina Panthers and quarterback Cam Newton.
Nevertheless, we will not be seeing Dan Carpenter until next year. Let’s just hope that he can make a recovery and never again lose his temper so much to the point that he spikes his helmet that hard to the ground. At least
he made other kicking attempts last night, and he had a decent season.
