Canada’s annual Fan Expo happened this past Labor Day weekend in Toronto and covered the streets with cosplayers at their finest. I live near the venue and my door was surrounded by Batmans, zombies and Powerpuff Girls. Cosplay is hardcore! I’ve never really been exposed to it at this level before! Holy crap, you guys go all out.

The celebrity guests at this years’ event brought out the fans in truckloads. The Scream team of Neve Campbell and Skeet Ulrich were in attendance, Teen Wolf’s Tyler Hoechlin (“BaaazOOOOnga,” went my cartoon eyes), The Walking Dead’s Chandler Riggs (Carl) and Norman Reedus (Daryl), The X-Files‘ Gillian Anderson, Harry Potter’s Tom Felton (Malfoy), James and Oliver Phelps (Fred and George) and Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley), Gotham’s Robin Lord Taylor (The Penguin), Mike Tyson, Jason Mamoa (Game of Thrones), Danny Trejo, George Romero, Ming-Na Wen (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.S.), Jenna Coleman and Karen Gillan (Doctor Who), and Jeri Ryan (Star Trek Voyager), and Christian Slater.

THRONGS of fans waited in line and shelled out a months rent to meet these stars, get pictures with them or snag an autograph. I seriously don’t understand the price tags of these things! Just go to their hotel and get it for free! What was worth the cash? The swag the event had. Everything your cosplaying heart desired was at this thing. Zombie make-up tutorials, comic book editors, artists and critics, speed dating, anime stuff, gaming stuff, premieres of new shows from Showcase and Space, and all the movie and tv show memorabilia you could ever imagine.

The best part was everyone in costume. You guys are creative and spend the time and money it takes to look amazing. I’m doing it next year for sure. Geeks unite!!
