Chris Evans has managed to make me like him even more than I did before, and you’ll perhaps feel the same.

The Avengers star spoke to The Hollywood Reporter at this year’s Toronto Film Festival about his directorial debut, Before We Go, which stars himself and Alice Eve (Star Trek Into Darkness). Before We Go is a romantic film, romance being the genre that Evans seems to be most fond of.

“I’ve always been a big fan of romance,” Evans revealed further, saying, “This story kind of captured the idea of meeting somebody on an unexpected, unintentional night, unfolding in a really pure manner.”

In terms of the films key characters, Evans added, “You have two characters that were hiding, running, damaged, and each one of them were in need of an understanding of what love meant.”

Evans also commented that he had a difficult time juggling his schedule due to his commitment as Captain America in the Marvel franchises. Thankfully, Evans managed!

Evans gushed about his amazing experience on set and admitted he’s not too worried about what critics have to say, commenting that, “It is what it is. We’re not expecting to win Oscars, this is my first movie and I’m learning. We’re just happy to be here. Whatever happens, happens, and I’m just looking forward to the next project.”

Before We Go is scheduled to release later this year.
