Past reports had linked Chris Pine to Warner Bros. and DC regarding several roles, so everyone and their mothers expected him to land a part. Even though the latest rumors had attached him to the Green Lantern universe, it turns out the actor has now officially joined Gal Gadot in the upcoming Wonder Woman films.
The Gal Gadot-starring Wonder Woman has officially found its male lead in Chris Pine, as he will be playing Steve Trevor. The character serves as the heroine’s beloved one, the man she left her home for and followed him all the way back to the world of men. As the two of them go way back, it’s only natural that the actor had to sign a multi-picture deal; he will most probably be needed in a bunch of sequels and parallel films after all, won’t he?
Wonder Woman will be introduced to us through next year’s Barman v. Superman: Dawn Of Justice, while her first solo film is expected to arrive in theaters on June 23, 2017 and further explore her origins. Patty Jenkins will be directing the film, taking from a Jason Fuchs-penned screenplay.
