Chris Pine May Return in Wonder Woman 2

Wonder Woman 2 will return in the Cold War era with a possible return from Chris Pine.

From the moment Wonder Woman hit theaters, people were talking about the sequel. Although Chris Pine’s character, Steve Trevor, heroically sacrificed himself to save humankind there have been rumors regarding his return in Wonder Woman 2.

ScreenRant posted the details regarding the sequel which is going to take place in the 1980s, engulfed in the Cold War. Of course the main problem comes from the fact that Trevor died in the last film. Will he return as a resurrected version of himself, some sort of demigod magic? Or will a descendant of Trevor’s return for the second wind? This question of course brings us to the next; does Diana Prince need a man to succeed as a character? Trevor’s death is what lead her to overcome Ares in the final battle. Diana is strong enough to exist on her own as a character, so will we be able to experience her singular character? While we do not have the answers to these questions, we do know Patty Jenkins has been confirmed as the director for the sequel.

Jenkins has stated how she will have the film set in America and in an interview with the Toronto Sun commented, “I’m excited for her to come to America and become the Wonder Woman we are all familiar with from having grown up around her as an American superhero. I’d like to bring her a little farther along into the future and have a fun, exciting story line that is its own thing. Wonder Woman 1 is so much about her becoming the person she is. I can’t wait to spring forward with who she is and have another great standalone superhero film.”

Jenkins also wanted to make sure people know she is not coming back for a second movie only for the success, saying “What I never want to do is start phoning it in and making things just to show that I can keep my foot in the door and do big movies. I don’t care about that at all. I just want to make great movies. And that could come from any direction. It might be a $10 million movie or it might be $200 million movie.”

Regardless of the setting, we are happy to hear not only Jenkins is returning to direct the film, but how Steve Trevor may make an anticipated return. The chemistry between the three is undeniable.
