In last night’s episode of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. fans were finally treated to an explanation of what exactly happened to Agent Coulson (Clark Gregg) in the aftermath of him apparently dying in The Avengers.
When the show first premiered, he was up and about like nothing had happened to him and his character explained to us that he had simply been “recuperating in Haiti” because it’s “The Magical Place.”
“When I read the script, I was blown away because it’s completely satisfying to me,” Gregg told TV Guide. “It’s not a tease, it’s: here’s what happened!”
“[The writers have] really set the direction for the back end of the season and the future of the series,” he said. “I was very, very impressed with what they delivered here.”
Without sharing any spoilers for those who haven’t seen the episode yet, Gregg wasn’t exaggerating. The scene was very inspired and fans that have been waiting patiently won’t be disappointed.
Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D has officially returned from its midseason break and can be seen Tuesdays at 8/7c on ABC.
