Sesame Street takes on The Wizard of Oz in a new parody video entitled “The Cookie of Oz.” The movie trailer spoof features Cookie Monster as Dorothy, as s/he must follow the directions of “Glinda-gestion” to reach the ultimate Om-Nom-Nom of Oz. The video is designed to teach children how to build their memory functions, but of course it’s filled with the usual Sesame Street laughs including several literal run-ins between Cookie Monster and the Flying Monkeys.
Kids and Wizard of Oz fans of all ages are sure to love it, and some adults will get a kick out of the slightly psychedelic visuals, including a brief reference to the Red Room from David Lynch’s classic Twin Peaks TV series.
