This year’s political election has throw the country for a loop with a celebrity as one of the candidates. Donald Trump is officially the Republican candidate for the Presidential election, and, though most of Hollywood has hitched their wagon to Hilary Clinton, some have endorsed Trump — Blake Shelton is one of them.
Here’s what Shelton had to say about Trump: “Whether you love him or hate him, he says what he thinks, and he has proven that you don’t always have to be so afraid. A lot of people are pulling for him, no matter how much Hollywood fights it.”
Actress Debra Messing did not like that message, and she sent a tweet to his girlfriend Gwen Stefani regarding her disgust.
“Omg. How? @gwenstefani please talk to your man to not vote for the person who will strip you of your rights,” read the original tweet, which has now been deleted.
Ok- I regret commenting. My passions got the better of me. Sorry. @gwenstefani @blakeshelton

Shelton replied with his thanks for her apology, but Stefani steered clear of the whole event. Shelton has since commented that he doesn’t endorse anyone for this reason and that he wishes there were a better option. Messing apologized for her passion but not for her opinion because she feels very strongly for her candidate and that Trump will thoroughly strip women’s rights.
What do you guys think of the situation? Was Messing right to call out Shelton, or should we all stay out of each other’s political opinions? Blake Shelton may not have officially gotten behind a candidate, but we know who Debra Messing is voting for. Gwen Stefani stayed out of it, so we have no clue who she will give her vote to — though it won’t matter because we all have to vote before we find out who wins anyway!
