‘The Defenders’ Begins Filming At The End Of The Year

Netflix and Marvel will begin filming The Defenders at the end of this year and will include Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist.

Netflix has been on fire lately with all of their Marvel show’s, and they have much more to come.  With Daredevil and Jessica Jones being as popular as they are, Netflix’s next two Marvel-based series, Luke Cage and Iron Fist are sure to impress.  But what do you do with all of these gritty heroes?  You team them up, of course!  And that’s where The Defenders comes into play.

When it was first announced that Netflix and Marvel would be working together, it came out that Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist would be the four heroes showcased, and that in the end, they would all team up for a miniseries called The Defenders.  And with two seasons of Daredevil and one of Jessica Jones already done, Luke Cage airing later this year, and Iron Fist airing in early 2017, it’s no surprise that preparation for this team-up has begun.

At a recent Netflix event in Paris, Daredevil star, Charlie Cox, revealed that The Defenders will start filming at the end of this year. He also said he is unaware of whether or not Daredevil will receive a third season or what the plot of The Defenders will be.

Charlie Cox did have this to say about how Daredevil Season 2 will lead to the group’s formation:

He can’t do this alone. He’s been so adamant about being a lone wolf, about doing it himself, so I think that in order for him to get to The Defenders we needed this second season. We needed to see him be broken individually so that he can – he’s willing to form a team.

The Defenders will unite characters from across Netflix’s slate of Marvel shows, including Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Colter), and Iron Fist (Finn Jones) in an epic superhero team-up in the heart of New York City.  A release date for the series has not yet been announced.

Luke Cage is set to premiere on Netflix on September 30, 2016, while Iron Fist will (hopefully) premiere during the first quarter of 2017.
