Demi Lovato is ‘Confident’ On New Album

In our opinion, Demi Lovato is fierce on ‘Confident.’ We have a full review of the new album!

Demi Lovato released her new album Confident on October 16th and it’s good.  It’s not as good as her last two albums but it’s good.  There are some very good songs on this one but overall it is not my favorite Demi album.  I will rate this one 3 and 1/2 out of 5 stars.  Keep reading for a track by track review and see how each song ranked on my radar.  These aren’t in order because my phone is eternally on shuffle.

‘Waitin for You’(feat Sirah) – This is one of the album’s strong songs.  Demi’s vocals are sharp and the lyrics are powerful.  It’s sultry and dark..

‘For You’ – This one is good and not great.  I love the versus.  But when they build to the chorus it loses steam for me.  The vocals are good and so is the message but I don’t like the sound.

‘Kingdom Come’(feat. Iggy Azalea) – This song has a ‘Cool for the Summer’ vibe.  I’’m not a huge Iggy fan but she fits in well with track.  Demi soars up and down the vocal scales.  It dances between the lines of ballad and dance track throughout the song.

‘Mr. Hughes’ – This is the first song I listened to other than the earlier released tracks.  My problem with this one is the same as the ‘Take Me To Church’ cover.  I don’t love her low low vocals.  The sound reminds me of something I’ve heard 1000 times before.

‘Stars’ – Ok, I don’t know if Demi has found her sound.  This album is full of different things.  This song starts off so annoyingly but then it turns into a beautiful Demi style track.  It’s like ‘Neon Lights’ on steroids.

‘Lionheart’ – This one is a ballad.  I don’t really have a lot to say about it.  It’s average.  Take it or leave it.

‘Confident’ – This is the second single off the album and it’s amazing!  Like I said, there are very strong songs.  This is a damn fine track.  It has buildup, lyrics, a sick beat, and bombastic vocals.  I could listen to this one all day.

‘Stone Cold’ – This is my favorite song off the entire album.  It has vulnerability and strength at the same time.  Demi sounds amazing.  It’s so emotional and raw, it’ll bring tears to your eyes.

‘Cool for the Summer’ – This song needs no words.  It’s a summer hit and a fun dance track for Demi.  I love it.

‘Father’ – This song is so powerful and it broke my heart.  I cried when I listened.  Don’t listen if you are in any way emotionally compromised.  Well done, Demi.  This song is amazing.

‘Wildfire’ – This one is a good one.  I like the buildup and the lyrics.  Demi is a powerhouse but sometimes she uses that soft vocal falsetto and it’s so perfect.

‘Old Ways’ – This one is ok but it’s too robotic.  I don’t hate it but I don’t love it either.  Some of these songs have a great chorus or great verses but not the whole package.

‘Yes’ –  I am 1000 % torn on this track.  I can’t decide even after a few listens if I love it or not.  That probably means it’s one of those that will grow on me and I’ll be obsessed with later.
