Grand Theft Auto players are about to be $500,000 richer.

Well… their characters are anyway.

Gamespot.com reports that player complaints poured in almost immediately after the multiplayer extension of the videogame Grand Theft Auto V launched earlier this month. These included cloud server errors, connection issues, and game progress that failed to save.

In response, Rockstar Games has announced a stimulus package to appease players—they’ll be distributing $500,000 to thousands of in-game accounts.

“Given some of the recent technical issues during these first days of GTA Online, and now that things are starting to look much smoother (touch wood!), we are planning to provide a special stimulus package for all who have played or will play Grand Theft Auto Online this month. We will be dropping a cool half a million GTA$ in the GTA Online bank accounts of all players this month, starting as early as next week. In order to keep the current worldwide in-game economy balanced, we will be providing this GTA$ to players via deposits of $250,000,” the developer announced on its blog Friday morning.

Players who have lost characters or rank during the technical issues cannot have them restored, but Rockstar hopes that the stimulus package will help them regain their game progress.

Users will receive the money if they’ve played at least once this month and have downloaded the GTA Online update 1.04, which is expected to be available within the next few days.

New game content, including some features requested by players, will also be added soon.

Stay tuned to Rockstar Games’ blog for updates.
