After weeks of trying to accommodate them, Disney has officially banned selfie sticks across their parks.
Verbal warnings from staff members and signs being issued across all Disney Parks were not enough to stop the newfound smartphone epidemic, so Disney has officially issued a park-wide ban. From next week, staff members will be giving bag checks to all visitors in the park. Visitors found attempting to carry a selfie stick in will be asked to leave it at the park entrance.
According to the Orlando Sentinel, the new policy will go into effect at Disney World and California’s Disneyland on Tuesday. Disney plans to spread word of the ban through audio messages that can be heard throughout the parking lots and hotels.
Initially, Disney issued a warning stating that selfie sticks were not to be allowed on big rides but were allowed elsewhere inside the park. Guests went against these warnings causing rides to be shut down by using selfie sticks on attractions that had park issued “No Selfie Stick” signs plastered outside them.
Disney is just another location to ban selfie sticks and we don’t see this ban being lifted anytime soon.
