When Journey hit the PS3 back in 2012, it inarguably became an overnight hit. This was in no small part due to the toil of art director, Matt Nava, and composer Austin Wintory to create an aesthetic and aural experience like no other to accompany the game’s abstract delivery of its message.
Fans of Journey, in all of its off-kilter beauty, will henceforth be pleased to know that both Nava and Wintory are coming back for another round of “amazing artsy game announcement” in the form of ABZU. Though the trailer doesn’t really give off much in terms of how the title will play, we do get plenty of gorgeous art scenes accompanied by the soothingly-produced soundscapes we’ve come to know and love by Wintory.
ABZU is being developed by Giant Squid, a studio headed by Nava, and is currently set for a 2016 release that’s way too far off for comfort.
