We all know the terrible failure that was the latest Fantastic 4 reboot. It bombed at the box office, and was ripped apart by critics.
The story line in particular was deemed haphazard and boring in many parts. But was it meant to be this way? Reports have stated that the film had gone through plenty of changes since it got the green light from Fox. Apparently one of the earlier drafts of the screenplay sounded like it may have been more exciting than the terrible version we got.
According to BirthMoviesDeath, which claims that they were able to see a copy of the earlier draft made by Jeremy Slater, the movie was meant to have more action and character interaction, as well as featuring a large number of fan-favorite villains.
The menacing planet-devouring being known as Galactus, who had a brief appearance in 2007’s Fantastic Four: Rise Of The Silver Surfer , was meant to be the main antagonist , and he does not just appear as an ethereal smoke but as an actual giant alien humanoid, which is much closer to his comic book iteration.
And get this, Doctor Doom was meant to be his herald. Other villains who were set to appear included The Mole King and a Moloid !
Now that sounds exciting! Unfortunately, producer and writer Simon Kinsberg stepped right in and delivered a rewrite . This ultimately delivered the terrible film we had to watch. Thank you so much, Kinsberg!
