You may not know her now but electropop artist Amanda Lyons is taking the music scene by storm.
Lyons just released a new music video for her single “Echo”. “Echo” is the first track from Lyons’ upcoming debut EP, entitled Night Vision, which will be released later this year.
I spoke with Lyons about the inspiration for her song. She states,
The inspiration behind “Echo” was built on an incessant “echo-ing” melody in my head – hence the vocals: “Echo, Echo, Echo..” in the hook. I knew that with this melody’s persistence, a valuable song had to be written. Ultimately, the song became about personal triumphs – and seeing the light through it all.
I got a chance to watch the music video, and I was very impressed with the direction she went with it. I enjoyed the animation of the video and the story it told.
I asked Lyons what her inspiration was for the direction she took in the music video. She said:
As far as the video, I knew very early on that “Echo” had to be in animated form. I saw it set in some sort of fantastical Saharan-esque landscape. I dreamt of butterflies, a lion as my guide and dramatic cuts. I detailed this all to the illustrator on the project and he took my ideas and ran with it – rendering a lot of it in abstract form, which I love even more. I truly believe it was a merging of kindred spirits, which hopefully translates in the final piece.
