All of us here at PopWrapped were excited to sit down with two-time Emmy winner and three-time SAG award winner, Megan Mullally for a chat. She is best known for her role as Karen Walker on the hit show Will and Grace, but, today, she has lots of new irons in the fire and is giving PopWrapped an all access pass, talking about her music, her naughty traveling comedy show with husband Nick Offerman, and her new show on NBC called You, Me and the Apocalypse.
Emmy AwardsPopWrapped: We loved you in Young Frankenstein on Broadway, and you recently appeared in It’s Only A Play. Any plans on returning to Broadway anytime soon?
Megan Mullally: Well, I did It’s Only A Play last fall with Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick. Then I went to London and South Africa for six months to shoot a show for the UK called You, Me And The Apocalypse. It has already aired in the UK and, after receiving great reviews in the US as well, is now airing Thursdays at 8pm on NBC.
NBCPW: You have a beautiful singing voice, We had the pleasure of hearing you sing songs from your album Big as a Berry. Your last release was Free Again; can fans be looking for new music coming soon?
MM: My band, Nancy and Beth, has a self-titled record coming out at the end of the year that we’re really excited about!
PW: Tell us about your show Summer of 69 you created and performed with your equally talented husband Nick Offerman? Did you know the Washington Post called you both the “Naughtiest Comedy Super Couple”?
MM: We are the naughtiest for sure! Nick and I did a 24-city tour of the US in the spring, and we plan to do much more touring as soon as our schedules allow.
CBSNewsPW: Can fans be on the lookout for new TV and film projects now that your successful comedy tour is coming to an end?
MM: In addition to You, Me And The Apocalypse, I am shooting a movie for FOX in Los Angeles called Why Him? with Bryan Cranston, James Franco, and Keegan-Michael Key in which I play Bryan Cranston’s wife.
PW: Will Karen Walker and Beverly Leslie, played by the amazing Leslie Jordan, ever get to make magic together again on stage, small screen, or even the big screen?
MM: I hope so!! xoxoxo
