She’s terrified everyone in the fashion world and now she’s set her sights on the fairy tale world in the movie adaptation of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s musical, Into the Woods. We all know that the fabulous Meryl Streep is a chameleon and totally embodies every character whose clothes she puts on, now we get our first look at her in her Witch’s garb.

Claws out, wrinkles scarring her flawless complexion, gray hair flowing and decked head to toe in black, Streep is perched in a tree, gazing out into the unknown.

Filming is well underway in the UK on the Rob Marshall production, with many of the cast seen out and about around Dover Castle this week.

Into the Woods brings together the characters from some of our favourite fairy tales, Cinderella, Jack and the Beanstalk, Little Red Riding Hood, and Rapunzel, in order to help a Baker and his Wife break the curse set upon them by the Witch next door and conceive a child. Their journeys to achieve this results in many twists and changes of fate for each of the characters as they experience the repercussions of their happily ever afters’.

Joining Streep is a plethora of screen and stage royalty including James Corden, Emily Blunt, Johnny Depp, Anna Kendrick, Chris Pine, Tammy Blanchard, Christine Baranski and Tracey Ullman, among others.

Into the Woods is set for a Christmas 2014 release.
