First Look At ‘The Magnificent Seven’ Remake

Several photos have been released giving fans their very first look at Antoine Fuqua’s upcoming remake of the iconic film, The Magnificent Seven.

The very first photos from the upcoming remake of The Magnificent Seven, directed by Antoine Fuqua, have finally been released.  These photos show Denzel Washington, Chris Pratt, Ethan Hawke, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Vincent D’Onofrio, Martin Sensmeier, and Byung-hun Lee as the new incarnations of the iconic gunslingers.

“These guys are gunslingers, and when they walk into the room, you notice them,” Fuqua told USA Today. “These are people you want to be with, or you want to protect you.”

Washington, who plays bounty hunter Sam Chisolm, is shown clad in all black as he brandishes a Colt .45 Peacemaker, a mustache and some killer sideburns.  Fuqua told USA Today that the character’s unique look was Washington’s idea.

“Denzel just smiled and said, ‘All right, let’s do it,’” Fuqua said.

“I walked out of the restaurant and said to myself, ‘Denzel Washington is getting on a horse for ‘The Magnificent Seven,’” he added.

During CinemaCon last week, director Antoine Fuqua said he wanted to make the modern retelling reflected in the diverse cast.

“I wanted it to look like the world we live in today,” he said.

Haley Bennett, Matt Bomer, Cam Gigandet, Peter Sarsgaard and Vinnie Jones also appear in Magnificent Seven.

Fuqua’s version retells the 1960 John Sturges classic, which starred Yul Brynner and Steve McQueen as part of a group of gunmen hired to defend a small Mexican village from attack. The original Magnificent Seven was in turn based on Akira Kurosawa’s iconic 1954 film Seven Samurai.

The Magnificent Seven hits theaters on Sept. 23, and according to USA Today, a trailer will debut Wednesday.
