Scholastic unveiled the redesign of the book spine for the Harry Potter series as well as the cover of the final book, “The Deathly Hallows”, at their NYC headquarters June 31st – which also happens to be the birthday of Harry Potter and author J.K. Rowling.
The artwork was all done by artist Kazu Kibuishi, who was present at the event. According to Scholastic, the purpose of the redesign was to, “appeal to new generations of readers who haven’t read the series yet.”
When all 7 books of the series are put together, the spines will come together to form a picture of Hogwarts as seen below:
