2014 is shaping up to be the return of the Foo Fighters for fans of the American rock band. And their return couldn’t come soon enough for many.

Back in August last year, frontman Dave Grohl revealed that the band would be bringing out a new studio album in 2014 and declared that this year “is going to be a really big year for the Foo Fighters without question”.

Since then fans have been eagerly watching for any sign from the band that the new album was on the horizon and on Friday (January 17), that sign appeared. Taking to their official Instagram account, the band posted a photo teasing their eighth studio album, captioning it as only rock gods could: “It’s Fucking ON”.

The album will be a follow-up to their 2011 release Wasting Light.

The band recently returned to the stage in a limited number of gigs in Mexico last month. This was their first concert since September 2012 and no doubt a warm up for their Super Bowl engagement, where they will take to the stage on February 1 for the pre-Super Bowl XLVIII concert.

No further word on the album or release date has been announced, but at least we have further proof that things are progressing nicely.
