Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life Date Announcement And Teaser Released

During a panel at the TCA summer press tour, the Gilmore Girls team announced the premiere date and dropped a teaser for the new series!

They say that the holidays are time to spend with family … but no one said it had to be your family.

Get ready to celebrate this year with the Gilmores. We now can confirm that Netflix’s Gilmore Girls revival, Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, will be bowing on November 25, 2016 — the day after Thanksgiving for all their American fans. Hard core fans will want to skip the long lines of Black Friday sales and wake early from their food comas because we will have four new 90-minute-long episodes dropping at 12:01am.

Netflix also released a teaser trailer to formally announce the premiere date, and it brings all the emotions with it! We are allowed to reminisce with iconic views of Stars Hollow, including the gazebo and Luke’s Diner, before being plopped directly into the kind of fast-paced, pop culture-infused conversation between the titular Girls around the breakfast table that made the show famous.

As production moved forward with the new series, it appeared that all of the original cast (minus Edward Herrmann, RIP) will be reprising their roles in one form or another. Even Melissa McCarthy will be back in the kitchen as everyone’s favourite chef, Sookie, for at least a brief scene or two. I, personally, can’t wait to see how Lane and Zach’s twins have grown up!

The sets that made Stars Hollow feel so warm and welcoming as a small town all had to be faithfully rebuilt, so I really hope the effect is the same in the new series. What would we do if we couldn’t imagine being lectured about healthy eating (while downing a massive burger) in Luke’s or getting the town gossip outside Miss Patty’s?

Get your takeout menus in order, bulk buy the junk food, and binge all the previous episodes — now available on Netflix worldwide! — in preparation. Until then, let us know where you stand on the important issues: #TeamDean, #TeamJess, or #TeamLogan? #TeamLuke or #TeamChristopher? … or is it #TeamJohnOliver now?!
