We haven’t seen a lot of him in Glee this season, but Mike O’Malley who plays fan favourite Burt in the hit musical show, has been cast in a new TV pilot commissioned by NBC. Brought to you by Mike Sikowitz, (Rules of Engagement) the new show entitled ‘Welcome to the Family’ follows the story of a Latino family and white family who are brought together when their teenage offspring fall in love and unexpectedly get pregnant.
It appears O’Malley’s role will be the part of Dan, a charismatic orthodontist who isn’t so overjoyed at the prospect his 18-year old daughter is pregnant. O’Malley being cast has raised questions amongst fans as to whether his character Burt will be killed off in Glee, after his character revealed he had cancer in the Christmas episode. However Glee creator, Ryan Murphy quickly dismissed this via Twitter, saying Burt won’t die on the show. After all, Mike O’Malley is a guest star on Glee, so I’m sure he can make time to do both and any other projects lined up!
