Harry Potter Spin-off ‘Fantastic Beasts’ Will Be Similar To ‘Goblet Of Fire’

Details about the Harry Potter spin-off, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, keep creeping in; now we know which HP film’s tone it will most resemble.

One of the producers of highly anticipated Harry Potter spin-off Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them, David Heyman, has cited Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire as the film in the franchise up to now most comparable to the upcoming prequel.

He made the revelation to Entertainment Weekly when he was asked to compare Fantastic Beasts to other Harry Potter films.

”(Fantastic Beasts has) got the charm of the fourth,” Heyman said. This is despite the fact that Goblet of Fire was directed by Mike Newell, and the Director of Fantastic Beasts, David Yates, helmed the last four Harry Potter films.

Heyman went on to explain why he thought so and even compared the style of both directors:

“It’s like the fourth. Mike talked about the fourth as being like an Indian musical — and it’s not that, but it’s got the humor of of that film. It has the romantic comedy, that fish-out-of-water humor, that very human, natural character comedy. And now David (Yates) is always looking for truthful, human moments, it’s never just a gag, he’s grounding (the moments) in a reality.”

Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them is set for a wide release in the United States on November 18, 2016. It will star Academy Award winner Eddie Redmayne as the wizard Newt Scamander, the author of one of Harry Potter’s textbooks at Hogwarts.
