Is Summer Heights High’s Jonah Set To Return To Our Screens?

Will we be shortly be seeing Jonah Takalua returning to our screens in a Summer Heights High spin-off? That was the question on many Australian minds last night following the latest episode of Ja’mie: Private School Girl.

As the credits closed on Wednesday night’s episode, the Australian twitterisphere erupted with comments surrounding Ja’mie’s alter ego, Chris Lilley. However, it wasn’t about the events in the latest episode that had people reaching for their smart phones, it was the short teaser clip that aired following it… starring none other than the troubled “Puck You Miss” Tongan school boy himself along with the tagline, “coming soon”.

Given the success of Ja’mie and Angry Boys (which both featured Lilley characters from his We Can Be Heroes), it wasn’t that far-fetched to believe that Jonah would now be getting his own spin-off series. However, don’t get too excited just yet. The Sydney Morning Herald reports that the teaser clip was just that… a tease. While the next series from Lilley is already in pre-production, the subject of it has not been officially announced and won’t be until next Tuesday night. Instead, what viewers will be seeing each day over the next week is a different teaser featuring a different Lilley character, with the new star revealed during ABC upfronts on Tuesday night.

So who could it be? Jonah? Mr G? Gran? Ricky Wong? While waiting, check out a clip of Jonah from Summer Heights High. Meanwhile, Ja’mie: Private School Girl concludes in Australia next Wednesday and debuts in the US on HBO November 24.
