Finnish singer Isac Elliot is bringing a great pop sound stateside this year. His latest single, “What About Me,” is a mellow pop love song, with a vibe that’s surprising from someone so young. His vocals are refreshingly smooth and perfectly suited to the beat, which is a combination of gentle instrumental and a fun electronic sound.
Fifteen-year-old Isac is picking up all the right attention in the music world, earning recognition from Z100 host Elvis Duran, who named him Artist of the Month in May, and he’s also had experience with large, screaming crowds – he has headlined sold-out shows in arenas overseas, and he opened for One Direction last year. In Scandinavia, he’s topped iTunes charts and received a Finnish Artist of the Year award two years in a row.
Isac celebrated the release of “What About Me” on The Today Show last Monday morning (May 23), where they dubbed him the “Justin Bieber” of Scandinavia.
Do the two musicians have a similar vocal range? Definitely, but I’d venture to say that Isac is debuting a more mature sound than Justin did when he came onto the scene a few years ago, and that makes him stand out from the crowd.
If you’re interested in seeing Isac live, he’s headed on a mall tour with Jessica Jarrell here in the States this month. The tour kicks off next Wednesday (June 8) in Florida and ends on June 18. More information is available on his website.
Isac will also be featured alongside several other artists in a new monthly series called AUDIENCE Music: Spotlight, a project created by AT&T and AUDIENCE Network. The series premieres to DirectTV and AT&T customers this month.
