New It Trailer Shows Pennywise The Clown

A new trailer for the movie adaptation of Stephen King’s It debuted at the MTV Movie and TV Awards, and it’s guaranteed to keep you up at night.

Jaedan Lieberher, Sophia Lillis, and Finn Wolfhard debuted a brand new trailer for the movie adaptation of Stephen King’s It at the MTV Movie and TV Awards on Sunday, and it’s a great reminder as to why people really hate clowns.

The trailer, the second one to be released, features The Loser’s Club venturing into Pennywise the Clown’s main domain, a sewer that houses floating debris, among it the shoe of missing little girl Betty Rimpson. And if that alone isn’t creepy enough, faint laughing can be heard as a red balloon floats towards them. The clip also offers the first good look at the new Pennywise, and it’s guaranteed to keep you up at night and make your coulrophobia a lot less irrational.

“When children begin to disappear in the town of Derry, Maine, a group of young kids is faced with their biggest fears when they square off against an evil clown named Pennywise, whose history of murder and violence dates back for centuries,” the official synopsis released by Warner Bros. reads.

Focusing on the kids and their dynamic is key if the studio intends to follow through with their plan to split King’s novel into two movies. The first movie will focus on the characters as teenagers and their discovery of Pennywise as children continue to go missing in the small town of Derry, while the second will see them as adults.

Andrés Muschietti’s adaptation of the 1996 novel stars Bill Skarsgård Pennywise the killer clown. Among his potential victims are Stranger Things’ Finn Wolfhard as Richie Tozier, Midnight Special’s Jaeden Lieberher as Bill Denbrough, Sophia Lillis as Beverly Marsh, Wyatt Oleff as Stan Uris, and Jack Dylan Grazer as Eddie Kaspbrak.

It premieres nationwide in theaters on September 8. Check out the trailer below if you think you can handle it!
