With the App Store’s fifth anniversary fast approaching, Apple have revealed the most popular iPhone and iPad applications of all time. So, what has reached the highest positions on the list? Mobile phenomenon Angry Birds was crowned the most-downloaded paid app for the smartphone, with Fruit Ninja, Doodle Jump, Cut the Rope and Angry Birds Seasons rounding out the top five.

As for the winning free app for iPhone, Facebook beat out stiff competition from Pandora, Instagram, YouTube and Skype.

As for the use of such systems on the iPad, Skype and Pages were awarded the top spots, with Netflix, Kindle and Angry Birds also featuring.

Apple will be celebrating the App Store’s birthday this coming Wednesday (July 10), and in honour of the past five years a certain number of apps will be available for FREE for a limited time! These apps include games such as Infinity Blade 2, Badland, Where’s My Water? and Tiny Wings, amongst others.
