Jay Garrick Introduced In New Flash Promo

Jay Garrick (Teddy Sears) is introduced in a new promotional video for the upcoming second season of The Flash, and he has a warning for Barry and his team.

Jay Garrick narrates the new promotional video for the upcoming second season of The Flash. In the 30-second spot he warns Team Flash about the consequences of the wormhole opened in last season’s finale.

Garrick is played by Teddy Sears, primarily known for his role as Richard Patrick Woolsely on Raising the Bar. He joins ex-WWE star Adam Copeland, former Candyman Tony Todd, and former One Tree Hill star Shantel VanSanten as characters new to the show.

In the comics, Garrick was the first person to hold the mantle of the Flash. In fact, when Barry Allen was young he was a huge comic book fan, especially of Jay Garrick’s The Flash, and he based his superhero identity on those comics. The two eventually met in the issue of The Flash that introduced the idea of multiple Earths to the DC Universe. It appears that Garrick will play a similar role in The CW show’s second season.

The new clip also features Copeland as Atom Smasher. In the comics, Atom Smasher travelled back in time in an attempt to save his mother after her murder. The character has extensive ties to Earth-2, and could be the reason for Garrick’s initial warning.
