Jennifer Hudson To Star In Aretha Franklin Biopic

With rumors floating around for a while, it has now been confirmed that Jennifer Hudson is actually in talks to play Aretha Franklin in an upcoming biopic.

Aretha Franklin is the latest iconic musician to have her very own biopic film in the works. With rumors about the casting making their way online for a while now, it has now been confirmed that songstress and actress Jennifer Hudson is in talks to star in it.

This biopic will most likely turn out to be different than most films of the genre, as Aretha Franklin herself has approved of it. Produced by Straight Outta Compton’s Scott Bernstein, it seems the movie has found its star in Jennifer Hudson. And how could it not, since she’s one of the most talented female artists that can do both acting and singing? Even though we only now discovered she is actually in talks, her name has been surrounding the project ever since the very early stages.

As it seems, the biopic about Aretha Franklin’s life and career has been in the works for a really long time now. The songstress herself first discussed it in an interview back in 2012, stating that she wanted it to “present the facts and be as creative as possible with them”. Franklin also wants her father to be played by Denzel Washington or Billy Dee Williams. Will she be in favor of Jennifer Hudson portraying her in the upcoming film? Well, we think she defeinitely will.
