Jessica Lange has been with the American Horror Story cast since the beginning of the show, giving us incredible characters who have sent shivers down our spines.
Unfortunately, the actress has said her time with the AHS family has “come to the end.”
“No. I think, you know, I had four years with that, four seasons, and each year was a marvelous character. Everything changed from one year to another which made it very interesting for me. But no. I think sometimes you come to the end of something and it has had its natural…”
It’s okay, Jess, no need to finish that thought…. We don’t need closure or anything….
Then again, what else do you expect from a circus mother, witch, crazy nun, and mass murderer? Lange has had a hearty (ha ha) run with the AHS franchise. She was a major part of why I tuned in every week.
Lange has been a star member of the cast for the first four seasons of American Horror Story, and creators Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk have not shied away from giving her bone-chilling roles.
While she declined to return for AHS: Hotel, fans held out hope that she would make a comeback for Season 6. Alas, Lange has hinted that “returning to American Horror Story again would just be ludicrous.” However, we will get to see her star opposite Susan Sarandon in the Feud Hollywood anthology.
We can’t be too mad at her departure since it allowed Lady Gaga to come alive in Hotel as its new, bloody leading lady. Although Gaga has confirmed her return for Season 6, she will not be the star character.
Now all Murphy and Falchuk have to do is get Lange on board, and these two amazing women can have a standoff. The next season doesn’t have a theme yet, after all.
Unfortunately, not even the creators will be able to change Lange’s mind. She’s already made a statement on live TV.
Lange confirmed her AHS exit on Charlie Rose.
