The Walking Dead's Morgan Jones, played by Lennie James, will be featured in a story connecting the two zombie apocalypse series. A crossover event for the Walking Dead universe has been getting hype since comic writer and Fear co-creator Robert Kirkman announced plans for one at NYCC. James is set to start filming for Fear the Walking Dead in Austin, Texas this Monday. According to showrunner Scott M. Gimple, this does not mean Morgan will be permanently leaving The Walking Dead for Fear. Speaking on Talking Dead, the executive producer said, "Even though Morgan is going to be featured on Fear, he has a lot of story left on The Walking Dead. Morgan’s arc on The Walking Dead Season 8 positioned him for the story on Fear."
As a fan of The Walking Dead who hasn't followed Fear the Walking Dead, I was not as excited as some for this crossover event. On the surface, it appeared like an attempt to boost the ratings of Fear. Having since watched how the story is unfolding in Season 8, there is a clear window for Morgan to leave the show temporarily. Based on Gimple's statements regarding Morgan, he will return to The Walking Dead, and it will be interesting to see how his arch on Fear affects his ever-changing character. For fans who have watched all three seasons of Fear, how do you expect Morgan to work into the story?
