Pawn Sacrifice gains two more cast members this week to star opposite Tobey Maguire in the film. Liev Schreiber, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and Peter Sarsgaard, Green Lantern, will be a part of the Bobby Fischer biopic.
Maguire will be playing the late chess genius Bobby Fischer, whilst simultaneously producing the movie alongside Steven Knight and Gail Katz.
The film is the true story of Fischer, which will follow his life and the story building up to the historic World Championship match against Boris Spassky, in 1972, in which Fischer became the youngest world champion at 15.
Schreiber will be playing Spassky, while Sarsgaard takes up the role of a priest who is a close friend of Fischer.
The Hollywood Reporter recently confirmed that Ed Zwick will be directing the film. Director David Fincher was previously attached as director before Zwick was finally chosen as the film’s director. Steven Knight has provided the screenplay for the film and is also producing the film as well.
Despite being in development for some time, it will start filming next month, and is set to be released in 2014.
