Lifestyles Of The Rich And Famous? Made In Chelsea Duo Feud Over Pay

It’s a hard knock life for us! It’s a hard knock life for us! Not content to be stinking rich, living the high life, flitting around Europe, and swilling Krug champagne at every opportunity, two of the Made In Chelsea cast are involved in a bitter row over their pay packets.

The hit, and surprisingly BAFTA award-winning, E4 “structured reality” show follows the highs and lows of a group of real, young, affluent 20-something south west London socialites. Now it appears that not too much “acting” will have to be set in place to create drama between series heart-throb Spencer Matthews and his love rival and relative newcomer Andy Jordan. It has emerged that bosses of the show have created a hierarchy among their “characters” with a sliding pay scale that reflects this and not everyone is happy about it.

Jordan, a former broker, is outraged that he is only bringing in half as much as Matthews; taking home a paltry £250 per episode compared to Spencer’s £400. A show insider spoke to the UK’s Mirror revealing: “Andy gets as much screen-time as Spencer and brings in as many dramatic storylines so understandably he thinks he should be paid the same as him. He’s already planning on negotiating a better pay deal next series”.

But Jordan had better bring his A game to the show as Matthews seems to know just how much he contributes saying, “If I were to leave the show there would be less drama and less tears. I hope MIC has a long life on British TV and across the world. It’s a good show, but I don’t know what would change if I leave”.

Another show source explains what is required of the “stars” to keep coming back each season. “They are given one series to make an impression and get kicked off if they aren’t interesting enough. It’s tough but it needs to be exciting”.

From comments made by Matthews, it appears he’s willing to give his all in an attempt to maintain his top position in the MIC hierarchy. “It doesn’t really bother me that the show has made me look like the bad guy, because it’s powered by drama, so however we get that is important”.
