Lin-Manuel Miranda, Ben Platt Releases Charity Single For Gun Control March

Broadway superstars Lin-Manuel Miranda and Ben Platt have released a charity single in support of student-led gun control rally , March For Our Lives.

Broadway superstars, Lin-Manuel Miranda of Hamilton and Ben Platt of Dear Evan Hansen have released a charity single for the benefit of March For Our Lives.

The song called "Found Tonight" is a mashup of two numbers from their respective musicals namely, "You Will Be Found" from Dear Evan Hansen and "The Story Of Tonight" from Hamilton. The duo also released a music video for the single which features them singing in black in white inside a recording studio.

A portion of the proceeds will go directly to March For Our Lives, a March 24th rally led by the student-survivors of Parkland, Florida's Marjory Stoneman Douglas Highschool.

The school suffered a tragic mass-shooting on February 14 that resulted in the deaths of 17 students and staff. The rally is meant to call on lawmakers to act on sensible gun control legislation.

"In the wake of Parkland, I was awestruck by the strength and leadership of the students and their ability to speak truth to power,"  Lin-Manuel Miranda said in a statement. "In the midst of their grief, they mobilized the youth of our nation and created a movement. This is their moment. Not just for themselves, but for all of us. This song is my way of helping to raise funds and awareness for their efforts, and to say Thank You, and that we are with you so let’s keep fighting, together."

Platt then added "Better gun control is something that all Americans should be passionate about, These students are paving the way for future generations and it’s so inspiring to see young people standing up for what is probably the most important cause right now in this country, and demanding action. I hope that this song can play some small part in bringing about real change."

Let us hope it does
