Mulder And Scully Keep It Cool In New Pics And A Lost Seventh Episode Of The X-Files?

FOX has released new pics from the season premiere of The X-Files and Chris Carter teases a lost seventh episode!

Welcome back, X-Philes! The hugely anticipated premiere episode of the new season of The X-Files debuted at New York Comic Con over the weekend and left fans and journalists alike begging for more! The truth is out there, my friends. And the truth is; The X-Files holds up.

FOX also released a few new snaps to torture us with until the television premiere and it seems Mulder and Scully are keeping things cool and cordial. And apparently, they’re not together anymore! But, of course, if they were happily married with a white picket fence, it wouldn’t be The X-Files, would it? Well….unless they found themselves living in that evil planned community, Arcadia, again and Mulder was on a P.T.A that actually stood for Paranormal  Tracking Association.

The new photos also give our first look at Joel McHale (Community) guest starring as a conservative politician asking for help into the investigation of a woman claiming to have been abducted by aliens.

Meanwhile, X-Files creator and producer, Chris Carter, told TVLine that we might be able to expect a lost episode from this upcoming season sometime in the future. Carter confirms a script was written on spec,  but time ran out before production could begin on the mysterious seventh episode.

It was almost about to happen. We were planning for it. The script was written. I even called people to find out if they were available to direct, and it just didn’t happen. I created an opportunity for two writers that I am close with to write a spec script. If there are more X-Files to be made, certainly it will be one of those.

During the panel at New York Comic Con, David Duchovny confirmed he was up for more X-Files in the future if this six episode arc is embraced by the fans. And of course, it will be and we will demand more. Well, we will ask nicely…beg, if necessary. But mostly, we’ll just make the internet explode every week as we bask in the glory of more Mulder, more Scully, more mysteries and more Mulder. There will be a lot of Mulder-basking.

So, don’t forget to tune in to FOX on Sunday, January 24th for part one of the special, two-night event to kick it all off again! Until then, watch the trailer and squee like it’s 1993!
