Netflix Caters To Kids, Tweens And Teens With Seven Original Series

Netflix has announced seven new series — along with their release dates! — that will increase their offering for younger audiences. Which will you watch?

Netflix unveiled seven original series this past Thursday that will cater to kids, tweens and teens. The seven new original series are:

  • Lost & Found Music Studios

  • Dawn of the Croods

  • LEGO Bionicle: The Journey to One

  • LEGO Friends: The Power of Friendship

  • Buddy Thunderstruck

  • Las Leyendas

  • Glitter Force

Lost & Found Music Studios is a live-action series brought to us by Canada’s Orphan Black producer Temple Street Productions. The half-hour series will be exclusively streamed by Netflix in 2016 and will be made available for everyone’s viewing pleasure “in  all territories worldwide outside of Canada, the UK and Ireland.”

DreamWorks’ Dawn of the Croods will premiere on December 24 and will be available everywhere except Japan and Germany. Both LEGO series — LEGO Bionicle: The Journey to One and LEGO Friends: The Power of Friendship — will consist of four episodes and will be available “globally in early 2016.”

Buddy Thunderstruck is a “stop-motion, action comedy” by American Greetings Entertainment; no further information was provided about a release date or a number of episodes. The first season of Las Leyendas, brought to us by the Mexican animation studio Anima Estudios, will consist of 13 episodes which will be premiering worldwide in 2017. Glitter Force is “Saban Brands’ anime-inspired” series which will contain 20 episodes that will air exclusively on Netflix worldwide, but not in Asia.

Netflix’s goal in regards to the mixture of animated and live-action series is an attempt to “broaden the selection of kids and family entertainment shows.” Andy Yeatman, Netflix’s director of global kid’s content, stated, “Roughly half of our 65 million members around the world regularly watch kids’ content and with the addition of these seven diverse original series we are continuing our strong investment in kids programming.”
