New England’s Pushing Static Premieres New Single, “SideWalks”

New England native, Asher Condit below is taking the music world by storm with his band Pushing Static. Check out the premier of their single “Sidewalks!:

Pushing Static is an awesome band from the New England area and they have given PopWrapped the privilege of premiering their new single, “Sidewalks.”

This song is a pure hit.  Pushing Static has an Owl City vice, which is awesome, because there isn’t enough of that style of music available.

Listen to “Sidewalks” and check out our interview with Pushing Static frontman Asher Condit below.

PopWrapped:  What made you decide to make the move from PA to CT?

Asher Condit:  Moving to CT from PA was a twofold decision:

1) I got a full-time job in the area. Student loans are killer, and many of my peers couldn’t find any work. I happened to find a company that wanted me to relocate and I followed it.

2) Philly is a great city to play music, but situating myself within two hours from Boston and NYC opened two new markets to explore. I’ve been hitting venues in both cities (as well as CT!) ever since.

PW:  What kind of music influenced you?

AC:  When I was seven years old, my grandfather- a professional jazz pianist- gave me an old Casio keyboard (you know, one of those with 128 patches and sound effects from the ’90s) and I always found myself drawn to music composition at the piano. I listened to a wide variety of bands from Elton John and Coldplay to Passion Pit and MGMT. Each of these artists wrote with “keys” as the main aspect, but still wrote good SONGS. The song is king.

PW:  What’s playing on your iPod?

AC: This is always a tricky answer because you get pigeonholed by genre, but currently I’m listening to a lot of Brandon Flower’s new material and The Naked and Famous, as well as several local CT artists I’ve met and support.

PW:  What influenced the new song?  I really love it!

AC: My wife is definitely the main influence from this song. There are so many circumstances where I feel like the luckiest guy in the world to have her holding my arm in public. That’s where this song comes from.

PW:  Any plans to go on tour?

AC: I’m currently scheduling an east coast suite of shows that’ll hit most big cities between Boston and DC. Keep an eye out for updates soon!

PW:  Who would be your dream artist to work with?

AC:  Getting to work with Ryan Tedder would be a dream. He’s super creative and his consistent ability to write fresh hits is inspiring. I know I’d learn a lot from working with him.

PW:  What’s your favorite venue to perform at?

AC: My favorite venue would have to be Steel City Coffeehouse in the small town of Phoenixville, PA. Though I’ve outgrown the venue, it was the club where I got my start (with a very unique floor-plan) and welcomes me with open arms when I look to book shows for the “home crowd” in PA.

PW:  What’s behind the name Pushing Static?  It’s definitely easy to remember.

AC: I platformed this band as a project that would “cut through the noise” of other pop music and actually say something meaningful, rather than only discussing sex and money (which has its time and place). Pushing Static fit the initial vision and I ran with it!

PW:  Will an album follow the release of “Sidewalks?”

AC:  Absolutely! “Sidewalks” will be the main single on my new EP Fireworks Dim in the Light of Love slated for release in late September. I’m really looking forward to getting this new material out there.
